"Why Supplements
Don't Work"
For many years I
have had many people complain to me about how a supplement did not work for
them. After they ask me this question, I ask if they are working out or if they
were even following any kind of diet. The answer to both of these questions were
usually “no.” Everyone has their excuse for not working out and for the most
part they are legitimate excuses, people do have to raise their families or are
very busy with their work. However, no one can put faith in products alone to
bring about results; it is sadly impossible. Supplements were made to
"supplement" one's diet and exercise program not to be the foundation of
results. You are the foundation of your results. You, the client, are the
reason why you see results training; it is not because of the supplement or even
the trainer. We just guide you in the right direction. Even when I train my
clients I tell them no matter what we do here, this is a small fraction of where
you are going to see results, you see the real results by what you do outside
the gym. Your eating habits and amount of sleep effect your results just as much
as your training. I see this more with weight-loss supplements with the 'lose 20
lbs-in-a-week' scam. You lose water weight and muscle more than you lose fat.
The scale is a liar. The best results I get with my clients is (depending on
the person) when they lose only a couple of pounds but they gain 5-8 pounds of
muscle. They did everything I told them to do: change their eating habits, take
supplements and work out. It all boiled down to what they did for themselves and
how much they were willing to put in. The funny thing is that my clients do not
even spend more than $40.00 a month on supplements and they are still seeing
results. As I said before, it is YOU, the client, that has the power to make
your dream body become a reality. It is never the supplement, rather it is YOU
who made your body what it is. Now it is up to you, are you ready to see
results? Do not rely on supplements that may or may not work. Rely on yourself
and you will make more gains and see more results than you ever have in your
life.
The following is a list of
supplements that you must have:
Short list huh, well the rest
is all extra: creatine, glutamine, even joint formulas and essential fat
supplements (fish oils, flax seed, etc). I do use all of these, including an
energy supplement. They are not essential for most people, but due to the way I
train I have to use most of these products. My joints are pretty banged up due
to my heavy lifting in the past.
